Schon mal was von einer Brass Hat Corvette gehört?
Das soll es 1967 gegeben haben. War das eine Option regular oder vielleicht eine COPO Variante?

So, das Rätsel hat sich gelöst. Es hat nichts mit dem letzten Link zu tun.
Brass Hat Corvettes (oder andere Brass Hat Specials) waren für spezielle Leute gemachte Autos. Die Astronauten der Apollo zum Beispiel bekamen Brass Hat Corvettes für eine Leasinggebühr von einem Dollar pro Monat.
Der Terminus "Brass Hat" ist vergleichbar mit dem heute gebräuchlicheren Ausdruck "Multiplikator". Wenn also Jay Leno einen Mercedes SLR bekommt, zahlt er dafür so gut wie nichts (wenn überhaupt). Er ist halt ein "Brass".
Also keine Ansaugspinnen aus Bronze zum besseren Temperaturhaushalt, sondern schnöde Karren für Promis, die heute bei nachgewiesener Historie teils einen erheblichen Wert haben. Hey, in mein Auto hat bereits James Brown gepupst!
