auch ich wünsche gute Besserung und hoffe euch endlich mal in FL kennenzulernen.
hier noch eine mail die mich erreichte:
New security procedures will apply to ALL visitors to the USA.
Regardless of whether you are travelling on the Visa Waiver program or have obtained a visa in advance, everyone passing through USA Customs will be fingerprinted (in a special inkless scanning process!!), photographed and asked some security questions before being granted entry. The ‘Biographic’ section of the new process involves such things as taking hand measurements, voice samples, measuring/mapping your iris, veins, handwriting and retina.
The aim is to eliminate fraud and "identity theft" at entry points to the USA, thus keeping out terrorists etc.
There will also be a new Exit procedure to go with this, although this is not expected to be up and running until later in the year. It appears to be just the same as the entry procedure above, except it will be an automated process at a computer terminal known as a "self serve kiosk".
All this really means to your travellers is that they will spend more time in queues on entry to the USA and you will need to allow more time for connecting flights etc. At this time they are not quoting how long the new process will take to go through, but I think we can safely say that this will be widely variable. The USA consular official I spoken with was a little bit sceptical that the 5th of January 2004 would be the actual start date, but it is most certainly the official one.
