"Congress. Seriously. The Feds mandated that those cars be parked in reverse for safety reasons. The reason for the battery drain is the system would alert you to park in reverse and would wait for the action, not completing the shut-down - thus the battery drain.
The mandate was lifted in the 2006 model year"
Keine Ahnung ob das wirklich stimmt.
Hier noch etwas dass das bestätigen würde:
"Taken from the 2005 manual:
Parking Your Vehicle
(Manual Transmission)
Before you get out of your vehicle, move the shift lever into REVERSE ® and firmly apply the parking brake. Once the shift lever has been placed into REVERSE ® with the clutch pedal pressed in, you can turn the ignition off and release the clutch. If
you attempt to exit the vehicle without being in REVERSE ®, the Driver Information Center (DIC) will display SHIFT TO REVERSE and a chime will sound.
Notice: If you do not put a manual transmission in REVERSE ® before exiting your vehicle, the battery will drain and could be damaged. Always put a manual transmission in REVERSE ® before shutting off the engine and exiting the vehicle.
Taken from my 2007 manual (and I'm assuming it is the same for the 2010 manual also):
Parking Your Vehicle (Manual Transmission)
Before you get out of your vehicle, move the shift lever into REVERSE ® and firmly apply the parking brake. Once the shift lever has been placed into REVERSE ® with the clutch pedal pressed in, you can turn the ignition off and release the clutch.
Please note the omission of the "notice" in the 2007 manual vs the 2005 manual. My take on this is that except for 2005 models, shifting into reverse is recommended, and not required because of shut down issues. "
