Private parties don't care about VAT .....especially when dealing with used cars. Dealers have to include a current 16% VAt in their prices to private parties unless vehicle stated to be export only.
If you wan't to sell a car to a private party over here in Germany you need to think about customs....as this will happen to be paid if you sell to a member of the EU. Customs in Germany adds 10% + an additional 16% VAT on vehicle price and shipping fares.....a true money machine.
The numbers stated above are for importing cars to Germany (i.e. from the US, or owned by a US citizen).
These numbers vary a little througout the EU.
