Na das sind doch mal wirklich positive Nachrichten
Da freut man sich erst recht aufs neue Schätzchen (besonders wenn man die dyno results der handgeschalteten Version genauer betrachtet )
2008 Corvette LS3 dyno results
The team over at LG Motorsports got their hands on a couple of the first 2008 Chevrolet Corvettes with the new LS3 engines and put them right on the dyno for some real world horsepower and torque numbers. With less than 30 miles on clock, the first results came in on the car equipped with the 6 speed automatic transmission. It put down an impressive 370.8 horsepower and 363.8 pounds of torque to the rear wheels.
Next up was the car with the 6 speed manual transmission. The manual transmission was more efficient and put down 389.5 horsepower and 377.4 pounds of torque. These are very impressive numbers from both cars, easily beating Chevrolet’s published numbers of 430HP and 424 pounds of torque. Using a conservative drivetrain loss of 17-18%, these cars are pushing over 450 horsepower.
The new LS3 engine has an increased displacment of 6.2L vs the previous 6.0L engine along with high-flow cylinder heads, larger intake/exhaust valves and an acoustically tuned intake manifold. An acoustic foam material is used to reduce radiated engine noise; it is sandwiched between the outer top of the manifold and an additional “skull cap” acoustic shell. Also new beauty covers atop the engine shield the rocker covers and also feature a noise-reducing, acoustically tuned insert to provide a more refined engine sound. Optional on ‘08 Coupe and Convertible models is a new, two-mode performance exhaust system. Similar in design and function to the system used on the Z06, the dual-mode exhaust uses vacuum-actuated outlet valves, which control engine noise during low-load operation, but open for maximum performance during high-load operation. The optional exhaust system provides and extra 5 horsepower as per Chevrolet.
Performancewise, the 0-60 times of the new LS3 corvette are supposed to be in the 4.3 range. We haven’t see any real world 1/4 mile times yet but we’re expecting high 11’s, if you see any post them up or let us know!
UPDATE: LG put added longtube headers, performance cam, ported intake, K&N aircharger, under drive pulley and a custom tune to one of the cars and added over 100HP to the wheels. The car now prodcues 506.7 HP and 457.1 tq
